Abstract Or Scope: A broadside regarding St. John's Church in Jacksonville, Florida. A notation in the handwriting of Miss Louise Richardson, Librarian at Florida State University Library, attached to the broadside reads, "Broadside St. John's Church, Jax. Fla. Lot purchased Oct '59 from O. Norwood. Very rare," and the question mark following the date "1845," pencilled in at the top of the broadside, indicates uncertainty as to when it was printed.

Abstract Or Scope: John P. Stone was a platoon leader for the 1st platoon of "I" company, 3rd Battalion, 29th Marines of the U.S. Marine Corp. He led his platoon in the battle of Okinawa in the Pacific Theater and was later promoted to company commander for his actions in that battle. In this capacity, Stone had to respond to letters from parents or other relatives who had learned of their loved ones' - Stone's men's - deaths. The collection contains many of these particularly touching letters, as well as letters to and from Stone, artifacts, documents, an oral history, a manuscript, newspapers, and books.

Abstract Or Scope: Photocopy of typed manuscript by Cora Peet Hammond from historical data collected by two seventh grade school girls under the direction of their teacher, Miss Tanner, to be left as a permanent record in their library. Very good narrative for girls of that age, about the origin of Lake County, the founder of Tavares, housing of the first county seat, and of some of the early settlers of Tavares.
