Frank A. Anderson, circa 1935-2012

1.25 Linear Feet
Abstract Or Scope

In Frank A. Anderson's Roger Peter 13: Diary of a Destroyer, The Wartime Story of the USS Thomas E. Fraser, several interviews of the Fraser's veterans, along with battle reports, war diaries, log books , charts and maps have been collected to portray the destroyer's 16 months of duty in the Pacific. It's purpose was to tell future generations what those on the Fraser went through, describing its role of providing fire support for U.S. Marines on Iwo Jima. It was also meant to honor those who served on the Destroyer by describing its origins and through many interviews and phone conversation with the "Frasermen", it took on the form of an oral history to accurately show the duties of the sailors on board the USS Thomas E. Fraser. The collection includes several photographs of the Fraser and the other ships affiliated with it during battles and other missions that the Destroyer undertook, all photo copied within the manuscript.
