Frank E. Murray Letters to Mother, August 6, 1945-June 10, 1946

Containers:
12.0010 - Box 1, Folder 04
Scope and content:

This folder contains primary quotes that could be used in regards to the Navy WAVES program as well as conversation about the atomic bombs dropped over Japan. Murray begins to discuss more about the surroundings and life during the post-war social scene on the west coast and how people reacted at the time. It then transitions to how his PBY squadron still gets deployed to the Hawaiian Islands and eventually Japan, where he comments on bases such as Iwo Jima and his opinions on Japanese POW's, using some interesting terminology with their descriptions. It then dies down into routine as he does patrol and cargo missions in the Pacific during Post-War rebuilding across Shanghai, Indonesia, Philippines, and Japan before returning home early with enough credit necessary.
