Chester W. Bailes served as a 4th Grade technician in the US Army 1st Armored Division during World War II. He was first sent to Ireland, before participating in the North Africa invasion, Sicily, and Anzio during the invasion of Italy, where he spent the rest of the war. His collection includes a few letters, publications relating to his unit written after the war, Time, Stars and Stripes, and Yank Magazines, as well as a number of pamphlets and military-published books relating to World War II.

The photograph is signed by the photographer, William Claxton, famous for his work worldwide, mostly music-related. The photograph was taken backstage at the Greater Salem Missionary Baptist Church, which Mahlia Jackson was a longtime member of in Chicago, Illinois.

This collection relates to William J. McCusker III who served as a C-47 pilot with the 18th Troop Carrier Squadron during World War II.  The collection includes letters, documents, photographs, flight records, certificates, pilot manuals, and pilot training class yearbooks. The collection also contains handwritten notebooks kept by William J. McCusker III during his service as a police officer with the New York Police Department.

Collection includes original manuscripts of Cheney's work with her edits, book jackets and illustrations from the publications and book galleys. One manuscript is accompanied with a letter from Cheney and a newspaper clipping about her and her family.

This collection relates to Master Sergeant Enoch Johnston Meekins, Jr. who served as a Sergeant Pilot and ground crew with the 10th Air Force in North Africa, India, Burma, and China during World War II. The collection contains a Chinese color lithograph print and oral history interview transcript.

This collection relates to John D. Griffin, a World War II memorabilia collector who assembled this collection. This collection contains letters and documents related to a German soldier who was killed in action on the Russian front in 1943, German death notice cards, Japanese propaganda, Honorable Discharge forms and certificates, Pretzel, Gillepsie and Stouffer letters discussing their time in China, the initiation of the Pretzel Stouffer Law Firm, and photographs at the China House in Chongqing, China.
