Consists of the oldest materials in the collection, both including and bookending the Civil War. Materials range from magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, and an array of visual ephemera. Of particular interest is an original Buffalo Soldier muster roll signed by Colonel Abner Doubleday, discharge papers from 1874, and an authentic slave bill of sale.

The Financial Papers Series contains deeds and receipts.

Board meeting and annual meeting minutes are filed together in chronological order. Annual Bulletin reports are programs and proceedings of the annual convention. Bylaws are also printed in most of the handbooks. The seal is a printing block of the association seal.

Funeral registers are located in Special Collection's stack. Loose papers found within the funeral register books housed in box 9 and located in Automated Retrievel Center (ARC).
