This collection contains an assortment of personal belongings of Carlos Barnett and his family and their transition to the United States. This includes personal letters, immigration papers, photographs, negatives of photographs, obituaries, and personal mementos, including of religious beliefs.

Includes account books of William O. Bearss, tax assessments, abstract titles of land, Amanda Bearss' autobiography (manuscript, photocopy and typescript form), and assorted family papers documenting the family's citrus and other agricultural enterprises, land dealings and activities.

Collection contains color postcards depicting Japanese in the late 19th/early 20th century and a Japanese sword from 1866.
