Author Files, 1754-1997.
- Scope and content:
Series III contains books, articles, journals, magazines, photocopies, newspaper clippings, photographs, and sketches pertaining to Michael Spencer's research on bromeliads. This series includes primarily published materials, although there are some original manuscripts; Mulford and Racine Foster's and Lyman Smith's manuscripts may be found in Series I and Series VII respectively. Since several items were previously owned by Mulford Foster, Racine Foster, and Lyman Smith, some publications have their names in the books to show ownership, while others are dedicated to Foster or Smith by the author. Although the folders are labelled by article title, the publication referred to is occasionally found in a book or magazine, such as the National Geographic. Additional publications by these authors may be found in Series IV. This series is arranged in alphabetical order by author's last name. If an author has written several publications, they are arranged alphabetically by title, followed by collaborative works arranged alphabetically by the second author's last name.
