The daughter of a Sanibel farming family, Irene Riddle married a farmer, Jesse Adkins. The two of them in the cart pulled by the gray mule, are in front of Irene's home. George Riddle, her father, had built their six-room house a half mile south of the school and a half mile from the Gulf, near the cemetery, along Casa Ybel Road.
