Background

Scope and content:

The University of South Florida at Fort Myers collection covers USF Foundation records pertaining to the USF satellite campus in Fort Myers that held classes from when it was first founded in 1974 (though it was not until 1980 that permanent buildings were built) until 1997, when it was relinquished due to the establishing of Florida's tenth public university, Florida Gulf Coast University. Records consist primarily of internal documents, but press and marketing materials are also present.

Processing information:

Materials that included sensitive personally identifying information of donors (namely checks and donation forms displaying bank account numbers and SSNs) were excluded from the collection during processing. It was decided that there is not sufficient archival value to these documents to justify their inclusion, as the contributions of these donors are accounted for in other, accompanying documents in the collection that do not contain sensitive PII.
