bound issue from July 25, 1888; Vol XXIII, no. 594. Lithographs include "Poor Whitelaw" (title page; shows Whitelaw Reid ferociously playing a organ labeled "N.Y. Tribune." The wind from the organ's pipes are labeled "Boastings," "sneers at Sunday school politicians," vituperation," "conflicting explanations," and more. The dials of the organ are labeled "hate, fear, malice, abuse, unfairness, petty spite, fanaticism," and its pedals are labeled "Bombast," "sheer," "wind." Below the stage, a group of angry politicians are seen covering their ears and raising fists at Whitelaw, who is playing the organ horrendously); "It's Not Hot Enough for HIM Yet" (shows a portly, upper-class man laying on a bedframe being set aflame by M.S. Quay and Whitelaw Reid. Reid is holding a torch labeled "Tribune" while Quat is holding a bellow labeled "High Protection Wind." They are trying to set flame to a pile of papers underneath the bed labeled "Foster's Confidential Circular." Beside them, a group of Republican senators are dressed in monk's robes and are holding scrolls labeled "Promises of increased protection," "of labor for the protection," "of the manufacturer," "protection for poor monopolists," and others. J.P. Foster is dressed in a red papal mozzetta and hat holding a poster with extracts from the "Confidential Circular of Republican League"); "'Sunday-School Politicians'--and the Other Kind" (shows a group of politicians existing the "School of Liberal Ideas" and being confronted by a group of snickering, sneering "Free Whiskey" Republicans)
