Biographical / historical:

The Orlando Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Abbey of St. Gertrude de Nivelles, is a chapter of the overarching Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence organization. Their mission statement reads: "We are an order of 21st Century nuns dedicated to the promulgation of universal joy and the expiation of stigmatic guilt. Our ministry is one of public manifestation and habitual perpetration. No more guilt!" Their goals include raising money for charitable organizations, fighting for queer rights and visibility, doing safer sex outreach, bringing joy and unity to their community, and never taking themselves so seriously that they forget to have fun.

The Orlando chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence was founded on November 14th, 2009, by Sister Isabella Ringing, Sister Majyna Burns, and Sister Ambrosia Discordia. The Orlando Sisters were recognized as an official Mission of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence on January 18th, 2010, and were later granted "Fully Professed" status on January 17th of 2011.

In the years between their formation and their recognition, the Orlando Sisters hosted many fundraising and awareness events, such as the "Wet Hot Sisters Car Wash" and the "Christmas in July" events in 2010. In 2012, Sisters T'keela Mockingburd and Isadora Knocking created the online magazine One Veil. This magazine, intended for Sisters, includes information on popular topics, tips and tricks for Sisters, a forum to discuss actions to take against compelling legal and human rights issues, and more.

As of 2022, the Orlando Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence continue their community service, outreach, and educational missions virtually and physically.
