Background

Scope and content:

The Gary L. Conner Collection contains toys from the World War II era as well as a ration point that was kept as a toy. The toys include airplanes, ships, artillery pieces, and a jeep. They are made of wood, plastic or composite material, metal, and wood. The donor also included a brief description of each toy and how he recollected acquiring them.

Biographical / historical:

Gary L. Conner was born in 1939 and was too young for military service during World War II.  He donated toys he kept since childhood that are from the years of the war.  According to Rev. Conner, some of the toys were given to him as gifts while others were obtained through cereal box top collecting.
