Private First Class Edward Carrow served in the US Army in the Fox Company, 665th Engineer Topographical Company, 4th Regiment in the European Theater of Operations (ETO). He served from 1943 to 1945.
Carrow was a native of Wilmington, Delaware, who joined the United States Army in early 1943. Upon his completion of aptitude testing at Camp Dix, NJ in July 1943, Carrow was transferred to the 6th Battalion at Fort Belvoir, VA, where he underwent basic firearms, obstacle course, and first aid training. In September 1943, Carrow began training in the creation and disarming of field obstacles and was assigned to the 665th Engineer Topographical Company. On 28 September, General Marshall visited the camp and a review was held. In March 1944, Carrow was sent to the Replacement Depot at Camp Reynolds, PA, and was moved to the Fox Company, 4th Regiment (which was still in the 665th). In May 1944, Private Carrow shipped out to England where he remained until July 1944, when he was sent to an undisclosed location in France. Private Carrow moved to various locations around France from August to September 1944, and he was stationed in the rear throughout moves into Belgium and Austria until the end of the European war in May 1945. During May through September, Private Carrow was stationed in Austria, and in late September, he began his return to the States, and he made stops in Camp Chicago, Rheims, and Camp Philip Morris before he returned to the US in November 1945.
