Biographical / historical:

Judge L. Clayton Nance was born on April 18, 1924. Nance served from 1953 to 1966 as the first Public Defender in the South Eastern United States and then from 1966 to 1979 as a Circuit Court Judge in Broward County, Florida. He was the founder of the Broward County Historical Commission in 1972. He died on June 20, 1979 at the age of 55.
