Background

The Campbell Papers is comprised largely of manuscript drafts of proposed chapters for Masquerade Peace, his study of Edward R. Stettinius Jr.'s role in the creation of the United Nations. This book was based on excerpts from his doctoral dissertation, the edited diaries of Stettinius, and other research materials. There are also correspondence, reviews, and research notes related to the publication. The papers includes a draft of Campbell's article, "U.S. Motives in the Veto Power," and class materials for history courses he taught at Florida State University. It is significant to researchers studying foreign policy during World War II that led to the formation of the United Nations in 1945.
