Scope and content:

The research materials in this collection consists of photographic slides of coral reef monitoring, a computer disk of photographs, teaching materials for courses on carbonate geology, printed photographs, data tables and figures, and published articles and reports.

Biographical / historical:

Eugene A. Shinn is a retired research geologist who obtained his Ph.D. in Earth Science from the University of South Florida in 1998. Shinn worked with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Center for Coastal Geology and is a Courtesy Professor at the University of South Florida, College of Marine Sciences.

Arrangement:

This collection is arranged according to material type, with photographic slides grouped together. The photographic slides were originally housed in sleeved binders and have been transferred with attention to maintaining original order.
