Background

Scope and content:

Pat Leach served in the Army in Company D of the 124th National Guard Infantry, 31st Division in the European Theater. The collection includes a 193- page memoir entitled "A World War II Memoir, the recollections of Pat Leach, March of 1941 through September of 1945" written by Leach. Prior to the war, Leach lived in Miami Beach, FL, and received his training at Camp Blanding, FL. His family lived in Jacksonville and much of his account took place in Florida. He also describes life in England and France during the war, but he does not discuss any battles at length. He is very descriptive about his life on the ship to Europe.
