Background

Biographical / historical:

The materials in this record group contain the records created by the Office of the President. This portion of the collection covers the period of 1883-1957, when the president was the primary administrator of the college and had a much closer relationship with students and faculty than is possible today. As the college expanded in the post-war boom of GI's and their children, the bureaucracy grew, and the beginnings of that can be seen in these files.

Of special note in this record group are the files related to the construction of the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.

Acquisition information:
These materials were transferred to the library by the Office of the President. As this is an active office, transfers still happen from time to time.
