- Scope and content:
The Florida Maps Collection contains maps concerning every major geographical region of Florida as well as maps concerning topical issues such as tourism, real estate, climate, and history.
- Biographical / historical:
The Florida Maps Collection is a compilation of various maps spanning over hundred years of Florida history. Included are maps documenting the growth of Florida's tourism industry via railroads, interstate highways, and attractions as well as the state's vast natural and historical resources.
- Acquisition information:
- Maps held in the UCF Libraries Special Collections and University Archives were gathered to create this collection. Additional maps were purchased in 2008.
- Processing information:
Items were placed into pH acid free folders. Metal clips and staples have been removed from the collection. Oversized items placed in Flat Files, Drawer #6.
- Arrangement:
The collection is divided into two series. Series I is arranged by geographic region into northern, central, southern, and eastern Florida. Series II is divided topically into items concerning tourism, real estate and development, geography and climatology, history, and transportation.
