The John D. MacDonald Collection contains 271 books by John Dann MacDonald published in various editions and languages between 1948 and 1995.
- Biographical / historical:
John D. MacDonald was a prolific writer of crime and suspense novels, many of them set in his adopted home of Florida. He participated in multiple programs with the Florida Center for the Book in the 1980s. On Feburary 21, 1987 the Florida Center for the Book, the City of Fort Lauderdale, and Bahia Mar Resort and Yachting Center established the JOhn D. McDonald Literary Landmark at Bahia Mar in honor of many popular MacDonald's Travis McGee books.
