- Biographical / historical:
The Buehler Planetarium and Observatory was established in 1965 at Broward College to provide the community with educational and cultural programming in astronomy and the natural sciences. The facility included both an indoor planetarium theater and an outdoor patio observatory, offering visitors opportunities for star-gazing programs, themed day and night shows, storytelling sessions, and specialized children's programming.
Over the decades, the Planetarium expanded its outreach, creating partnerships with schools, developing community-focused exhibitions, and incorporating technology such as laser shows. The facility served as a cornerstone for science education and engagement on campus.
