- Scope and content:
Administrative records, correspondence, ephemera, newspaper articles, photographs, and publications documenting the creation and operation of the international program at the university, including the inaugural program in Florence, Italy in 1966 and in Valencia, Spain. Major subjects include the preparation for and events during the Florence study program with a focus on the Arno River Flood of 1966.

- Biographical / historical:
The International Studies Program at Florida State University began in 1966 with the development of a study abroad program to Florence, Italy. The program was created by former Dean of Students, Dr. Ross Oglesby, under President Blackwell. In 1966, the Florence program was the only one of its kind at Florida State University and only consisted of 120 students. Today, Florida State University's International Program has expanded to just under 50 programs in over 15 countries. The international program at Florida State University sends over 1,600 students every year to countries like China, Italy, Panama, and Spain.
