Information about each transaction, such as date, name of customer and amount paid or received is recorded. Transactions include a wide array of general merchandise sold and bought by the store. Arrangement is chronological.
- Biographical / historical:
The day books of the L. R. Rainey Dry Goods Store in Monticello, FL in the early 1900's. As a result of Monticello's agrarian economy, much of the business of the mercantile store involved providing tools, implements, supplies to farms, other agricultural businesses, and buying the goods produced by those same farms. More general goods, such as ladies dresses and housing supplies, were also sold.
