Biographical / historical:

The Historic Tampa-Hillsborough County Preservation Board is one of seven major historic preservation boards created within the Department of State pursuant to Chapter 266, F.S. for the purpose of acquiring, maintaining, restoring, and preserving the sites, buildings, landmarks, and other materials of historical significance within the State of Florida. The established preservation boards include the Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board, the Historic Pensacola Preservation Board, the Historic Tallahassee Preservation Board, the Historic Palm Beach County Preservation Board, the Historic Florida Keys Preservation Board, and the combined historic preservation boards of Broward County, Volusia County, and Flagler County. In the City of Tampa, historic preservation is accomplished by means of three distinct architectural boards and commissions responsible for reviewing and monitoring development within historic districts. These boards are comprised of the Architectural Review Commission, the Historic Preservation Commission, and the Barrio Latino Commission.
