Scope and content:

This collection contains scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, photographs, newsletters, correspondence, awards, yearbooks, administrative documents, brochures and other printed material concerning the activities and accomplishments of the Seminole Business and Professional Women's Club from 1953 to 1984. The collection also contains materials from the Florida Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, the Business and Professional Women's Foundation, and from the Florida Business and Professional Women's Education Foundation.

Biographical / historical:

In 1953, the Business and Professional Women's Club of Tampa sponsored the organization of a Seminole Heights chapter. Later that year, the new Seminole Heights Business and Professional Women's Club received its official charter membership into the Florida Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. The objective of the Seminole Heights organization was to elevate the standards of professional women, promote their interests, bring about a spirit of cooporation, and extend new opportunities through education.
