- Scope and content:
The collection consists of correspondence, news clippings, magazines, essays related to Dr. Ronni L. Sanlo's activities in the Florida Lesbian and Gay community. The collection is arranged in chronological order beginning in 1979 through 2010.
- Biographical / historical:
Dr. Ronni Sanlo is an author, speaker, educator, and LGBT activitst and was an advocate for LGBTQ rights in Florida in the early 1980's and 1990's. Dr. Sanlo graduated from the University of Florida in 1969 and later was hired as an HIV epidemiologist for the Florida Health Department. She obtained her Masters of Education in Counseling and Doctorate of Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership/Orgainizational Development from the University of North Florida. In 1994, Dr. Sanlo began working for the University of Michigan as the Director of Lesbian and Gay Programs Office. She later worked for UCLA to grow their LGBT Center in 1997. She retired from UCLA in 2010 where she is the Director Emeritus of the UCLA LGBT Center.
