The NASA Information for the Press, 1990-2002 contains Mission Press Kits and Space Shuttle Mission Chronology reports produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for the press to use in their coverage of space missions, and John F. Kennedy Space Center facility maps from 1996 and 1997. This collection provides insight into the information NASA produced for the press about missions and facilities. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the United States government's civilian agency responsible for space exploration, aeronautics research, and scientific discovery. Established on October 1, 1958, through the National Aeronautics and Space Act, NASA was created in response to growing national interest in space exploration during the Cold War. NASA has led numerous landmark programs, including the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttle, and Artemis programs.

The NASA Photograph collection, 1962-2001 contains over 10,000 color transparencies, color and black and white photographs documenting National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) activities in the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida from 1962 to 2001. The photographs chronicle the building of space shuttle programs such as Skylab, Apollo, Soyuz, and Space Transportation System (STS) missions. The Scott H. Simpkinson collection, 1943-1989 contains the materials Simpkinson collected during his tenure as an engineer for NASA. Materials are largely produced by NASA, and include information about the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Viking missions, as well as the Space Shuttle program. The collection also includes materials produced by outside engineering firms and Simpkinson's personal effects. These materials consist of reports, publications, photographs, and objects. This collection provides insight into the early days of NASA, key missions, and the career of Scott Simpkinson. Scott H. Simpkinson was born on August 24, 1919, in Piqua, Ohio. Simpkinson graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1943 and was subsequently employed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), then the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), as an engineer from the 1950s until his retirement in the early 1980s. Simpkinson worked on the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Viking missions, as well as the Space Shuttle. Scott Simpkinson died on August 8, 1996.
