This collection consists of photographs donated by Metro Wellness Health, a Tampa Bay area nonprofit health care provider specializing in care for LGBTQ+ and/or HIV/AIDS patients. Photographs in the collection showcase LGBTQ+ cultural life, businesses, sports teams, activism, entertainment, social events, organizations, bars and clubs, religious organizations, and HIV/AIDS care and memorial services in the greater Tampa Bay area. Some photographs in the collection are national and international events, such as Pride celebrations and the Gay Games.
The PFLAG Tampa collection includes materials related to the Tampa chapter of PFLAG, a national LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, as well as materials related to organizations with which PFLAG Tampa and its founders, John and Nancy Desmond, collaborated. This collection contains a significant volume of materials related to Tampa Pride, the group which organizes the annual Tampa Pride Festival, both from PFLAG's involvement with the festival and John and Nancy Desmond's time as board members for the organization. Materials in this collection include organizational documents, promotional materials, community resources, and events ephemera and realia.
This collection is comprised of photographs and video footage of the LGBTQ+ community taken by Rex Maniscalco from the 1980s to 2000s, as well as documents from Tampa Bay LGBTQ+ culture, civil rights, and community organizations.
