This collection is comprised primarily of newspaper clippings and correspondence, and documents the controversy from 1991 through 2005 over FSU's use of Native American names and symbols representing Renegade and Osceola, the Seminoles, and their use in athletic merchandise. There is correspondence between representatives of the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Florida Creek Indian Council with FSU reaffirming support for the Seminole name and Marching Chiefs over the use of the Seminole name, war chant, and "tomahawk chop" as well as letters between university officials about the President Dale Lick's Presidential Study Group on the Use of Seminole Symbolism and Tradition during the early 1990s. In addition, there are prints of early FSU Seminole football players, cheerleaders, and an FSU Homecoming Princess.

The FSU Senior Class Gift Files include articles, correspondence, lists, pamphlets, photographs, and press releases documenting the history of annual and 50th anniversary gifts given by its senior classes. There is much information about the 1994 Senior Class Gift of a clock for the University Center's Tower, the Westcott Brick Project, and the Louise Richardson Memorial Fountain Project, and a reproduction of a panoramic photo, with negatives, of the Class of 1912.

This collection contains FSU sports media guides for FSU's football, basketball, baseball, tennis, track and field, golf, volleyball, diving, swimming, softball, and soccer teams. Media guides contain information about each sport's upcoming season, coaches and players, statistics and records, and the university itself.

The publication of yearbooks at Florida State University began in 1901 when West Florida Seminary published the Argo. Publication under that title continued through the transition to Florida State College with two more editions before it was halted when the school was renamed and repurposed as the Florida Female College in 1905. In 1909, the name of the school changed to Florida State College for Women and, one year later, the institution published its first yearbook entitled Flastacowo. After the 1915 edition, publication was suspended during World War I and resumed in 1921. In 1947, the school returned to coeducational as Florida State University and in 1948 it published its first yearbook, Tally Ho!. After the student-published 1971 edition, publication of the Tally Ho! was halted. Since then, the yearbook has been published under various titles including Tally Ho (1973), Artifacts (1980-1981, 1985-1986), and finally, Renegade (1988-1997, 2006-2008). Publication of the yearbooks ceased after the 2008 Renegade.
