The collection reflects the lives and activities of the Avellanals, a prominent pioneering Ybor City family, with the bulk of the collection documenting the life and career of Lt. General José Luis Avellanal y Jimenez. Among the papers in the collection are pamphlets, diaries, ledgers, correspondence, invoices and receipts, contracts, real estate title abstracts, lawsuits (including testimonies), certificates, photographs, corporate minutes, audits, medical reports, patents, stock certificates, newspaper clippings, and a small number of artifacts.

The bulk of the collection documents the life and career of Dr. José Ramon Avellanal, a prominent Ybor City physician and founder of El Bien Publico Clinic. Among the papers are biographical materials, correspondence, patents, estate papers, and documents pertaining to Dr. Avellanal's medical practice, drug store businesses, Public Welfare Company, and other ventures.

The Judge Robert C. Scott Collection contains twenty seven black and white photographic copies of postcards showing historical Fort Lauderdale.They include images of downtown Fort Lauderdale, the New River Hotel, and boat damage from the 1926 hurricane.

Collection includes Judge Terrell's official papers, speeches, newspaper articles by and about the Judge, correspondence & legal files pertaining to the Florida Bar, court rules, impeachments, campaigns, law books, bulletins, journals, & maps; most of the items are legal files, opinions and per curiams; also includes personal papers, photos, scrapbooks & memorabilia. Approximately 7,663 items including opinions and per curiams, speeches, court rules, official papers and private correspondence.

The Katherine Moore Morse Collection includes several playbills and photographs from productions at Florida State College for Women (FSCW); mementos from Miss Sarah Thomson, an FSCW distinguished faculty member; class work from her Speech and Theater classes; various scripts; newspaper clippings related to Morse herself or FSCW; general memorabilia from Zeta Phi Eta, an honorary fraternity related to the Speech and Communication Arts; general memorabilia from FSCW during the 1940s; and correspondence from one of her aunts.
