The Michael E. Krauss Collection consists of personal papers, correspondence, writings, newsletters, newspapers, sound recordings, and ephemera related to the learning, study, and preservation of Celtic languages and cultures. Foreign language documents in the collection include those written in Cornish, French, Breton, Welsh, Japanese, German, Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic, and Manx Gaelic. Research materials primarily focus on linguistics and philology in relation to Celtic languages. Also included are documents related to Irish and British publishing houses specializing in Celtic language materials, as well as cultural and linguistic preservation societies, including the International Committee for the Defense of the Breton language. In addition to this manuscript collection, Micheal Krauss donated several hundred volumes to the Anglo-Irish Collection, which is accessible through USF Special Collections. Additional monographs donated by Krauss are currently being cataloged.
