Containers:
01.0362 - Box 1, Folder 001
Scope and content:

The folder includes letters Morgan sent to his family describing his day-to-day life while stationed Camp Roberts (California), and Camp Riley (Kansas) such as drills, basic training for army and cavalry, and simulated battle. Morgan describes fixing rifle sights (with drawings). Morgan expresses worry about not being paid and rarely receiving any letters. Near the end of September, he learns that he will not be in the European Theater. While on the shooting range, a soldier panics when his rifle grenade does not fire, and he throws the rifle into a group of soldiers, including Morgan. One soldier is injured in the arm.
