Preceding Formation, 1989-1996
- Scope and content:
This series contains research on various academic advising and peer advising activities within UCFs different colleges, primarily from the College of Education under Judith Sindlinger, prior to the formation of the Academic Advising Council. The Title 3 Grant Advisors, Beginning of Professional folder contains the bulk of this research as well as planning for a centralized academic advising system at UCF. There is a Report on the Status of Advising Practices for Undergraduate Students provided by the State University System of Florida, and several drafts of UCFs University Policy Statement on Academic Advising. A Proposal Records & Advising Center document from the College of Education recounts the history of the colleges Records and Advisement Office, and includes an organizational chart showing the offices split into the Records office and Advising Services. The First Meetings Academic Advisors folder includes collaboration among UCFs academic advisors from the College of Business Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, and Brevard and Daytona Beach and campuses. The folder also contains minutes from when a council met to discuss objectives and primary steps toward centralized academic advising. Attendees of the meeting included Russ Tiberii, Judith Boyte, Joe Hall, Diona Doss, Debbie Phillis, Sharyn Evon Gaston, Sylvester Covington, Paul McQuilkin, and David Dees.
