Zeddie P. Barron Letters to Wife, September 1945
- Containers:
- Box 07.0077 - Box 2, Folder 002
- Scope and content:
The majority of Barron's letters from this month concern his anxiety to return home and anger at the point system, which he believes is unfairly against him. He expects to leave Europe by October and receive a furlough upon arriving in the United States, only to have to report back within thirty days to receive his discharge. He speculates that this is because the reception centers won't be able to handle the job of issuing discharges all at once. He receives orders on September 25th that he will be moved to Giessen and depart from there by the 30th, but he is passed over for the quota in favor of older men, regardless of point total. He now expects to depart by October 8th.
