Zeddie P. Barron Letters to Wife, September 1944

Containers:
07.0077 - Box 1, Folder 015
Scope and content:

This folder contains predominantly personal letters from Barron to his wife concerning news from his home and predictions about the end of the war. He includes descriptions of the French countryside, and prefers civilians in the interior of France to those whom he first encountered. Barron wishes for the success of the Allied invasion of Holland. Censorship is partially restricted and Barron lists his travels in Ireland, Britain, and France. He performed a beach landing on D-3 (though which beach is unspecified) and proceeded through France by way of such locations as St. Marie du Mont, Le Mans, St. Lo, and Reims. The closest he came to combat was in St. Mere Eglise, where he experienced air raids.
