Postal Series, 1884-1997

Scope and content:

This series contains a large number of stamps, First Day Covers, and other postal materials, almost all of which feature women in history. The First Day Covers are arranged by Scott Number or NOW New York FDC number, while the other subseries are arranged alphabetically.

Box 11, Folder 20 contains larger-sized cachet covers and envelopes relating to the following topics: Margaret Sanger/Birth Control Clinic, Miscellaneous, Molly Pitcher, Mother's Day, Philately, and Susan B. Anthony/Suffrage. Highlights include a handwritten postcard by Susan B. Anthony, and envelopes addressed to Margaret Sanger and William Lloyd Garrison.

Box 11, Folder 13 and 14 contain larger-sized first day covers relating to the following topics: Texas Centennial, Susan B. Anthony, Progress of Women, The American Woman, Nursing, Girl Scouts-50th Anniversary, Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Homemakers; Smith-Lever, General Federation of Women's Clubs, Mary Cassatt, Camp Fire Girls, Flag Over White House, Red Cross 100th Anniversary, Woman Suffrage-50th Anniversary, Family Planning, International Women's Year, Clara Maass, and Edith Wharton.
