Scope and content:

This folder contains letters from Clifford Prince to his wife, Irene, as he returns back to base from visiting his wife and moves to San Diego. He includes a post card from Missouri as he travels to San Diego on a troop train as well as a postcard from San Diego. He now has the title of Seaman Guard and he takes care of the shipyards. Most of his company from Illinois went overseas to fight and a few went with him to San Diego. Prince went to go see a free Navy show entitled Wings and a Prayer starring Don Ameche. He writes that the papers say the bases will discharge men when Germany falls. Prince also sent his son a birthday card. He went to the hospital in San Diego because of a weak spell and he hopes to be discharged. He continuously gets more angry with the Navy because he's in San Diego not contributing to the war.
