- Scope and content:
This folder contains letters from Clifford Prince to his wife, Irene, as he chronicles his time in San Diego, including his day trips to Mexico and Los Angeles. He sends his wife a birthday card and a postcard from Hollywood. He says how much he misses his family and writes a lot about the expensive prices of San Diego. He applied for a job as a Naval electrician and passed but didn't accept the position because he would have to stay in the navy for longer. He saw a few more shows, including Casanova Brown. He also visits the U.S.O who takes them out to the Warner Brothers Studios in Los Angeles and saw numerous stars including Humphery Bogart. He likes to spend time at the U.S.O. because he eats for free and goes to shows, ball games, and zoos and can rent a bed to sleep in for 75 cents. He includes cards and papers from the U.S.O. as well.
