Consortia and Conference Files

Scope and content:

To encourage the development of Napoleonic scholarship, Dr. Horward was one of the five founding scholars of the leading scholarly society in the field, The Consortium on Revolutionary Europe, which welcomes several hundred participants each year to its annual meeting. Six of the 16 schools are led by graduates of the Institute at FSU. In 2013, the 42nd Consortium will be hosted by an FSU graduate in Ft. Worth, Texas. Over the years, almost one-fourth of the presentations have been by graduates of FSU's institute. Working in the various archives scattered across Europe, his students have explored new and original topics; they have answered many unanswered questions, filled gaps in previously ignored areas, raised questions, and brought new students into the field to pursue future research. Folders covering the 1989 Bicentennial Consortium at FSU contain letters from historians in the field.
