Diary 3, ca. 1920s

Containers:
Box 1, Folder 3
Scope and content:

The journal appears to be a planner, with United States cities and states populations of 1923; also included are weights and measures, and a few other charts and lists including "United States War Department Mileage 1923," "Safety Rules for Pedestrians," "Safety Hints to Drivers," and "Business Forms." Also included are maps and charts including "Table of Wages by the Month" and "Table of Wages by the Week." These lists and charts were included in the journal and not written by Esther. The journal/planner begins in January 1924, where Esther began writing brief descriptions of her day in each designated daily section. She mentioned her classes began on January 2, 1924 at Brookwood College and that she had just arrived in Katonah, New York. She noted Woodrow Wilson's dead Feb. 3, 1924 and attended his funeral on Feb. 6, 1924. Her entries become less frequent toward the end of February. From her entries, it seemed that she travelled back and forth from New York to Bryn Mawr and to meetings with the Y.W.C.A., or "Y" throughout the end of February to early April, 1924. Writings stop at June 7, 1924; pick up again August 9, 1924 before stopping again Oct. 5, 1924. There are some listed names and addresses in back of journal.
