Negatives, 1965-2004

Scope and content:

This series is divided into two subseries, Chronological Files and Subject Files. The original order was retained for the images that were filed by the day, month and year that they were taken. For some negatives, only the year is known and these are filed at the end of the year. A few images have additional identifying information enclosed. Although many of these images are the film negatives for the photographic prints, they have not been correlated. Chronological images cover all the topics shown elsewhere in the collection. Subject files are similar to Series V in that the titles are generally self-explanatory; however, negatives often have multiple subjects together so subjects have to be more general. Where there are several images of an individual, there is a separate file. Otherwise, images of individual and groups of faculty, administration and staff are grouped in one folder. Similarly, students are grouped together, donors are grouped together and People are images of individuals who are not fully identified and groups. President's and First Ladies includes a DVD of images used to create a commemorative video. Some sports have individual folders; others fall under the general heading of "Sports". Similarly, the number of images of a particular building dictates whether it has its own folder or whether it is grouped under the general heading "Buildings and Plans". Campus Scenes are similar to those in Series IV; they show all aspects of university life. Events include occasions for which there are few images and those that are not fully identified. Publications and Logos holds artwork and logos for publications as well as building renderings and images that were apparently used for signs.
