Negatives with Proof Sheets, 1966-2003

Scope and content:

Negatives with Proof Sheets are arranged in three subseries retaining the original order as far as possible. Although many of these images are the film negatives for the photographic prints, they have not been correlated. The first subseries is arranged chronologically as the images were filed by the day, month and year that they were taken. Chronological images cover all the topics shown elsewhere in the collection. The second subseries holds faculty, administration and staff portraits arranged alphabetically by the subject's last name. Subject files are similar to Series V in that the titles are generally self-explanatory. Art shows works of art; whereas Art Department shows activities of the faculty and students in the department. Campus Aerials also includes maps and diagrams of the university and its organization. Where there are several images of an individual, there is a separate file. Otherwise, images of individual and groups of faculty, administration and staff are grouped in one folder. Similarly, students are grouped together, and alumni are contained in a single folder. People are images of individuals and groups many of which are not fully identified. Some sports have individual folders; others fall under the general heading of "Sports". Similarly, the number of images of a particular building dictates whether it has its own folder or whether it is grouped under the general heading "Buildings". Campus Construction documents the contruction of the earliest buildings on campus. Campus Scenes are similar to those in Series IV; they show all aspects of university life. Church Street Offices show faculty, staff and administration at work before the campus was built, and they include images of the move to the campus. Similar images may be found in Series IV in Early Campus Scenes. Publications and Logos shows artwork and logos used in publications.
