V-mail from Harold G. Blunk to Wife, July 1944-June 1945
- Containers:
- 14.0004 - Box 1, Folder 008
- Scope and content:
This folder contains more V-mail sent from Blunk to his wife while he was stationed in England. In his September 5, 1944 letter he wrote that he had been put on guard duty at an MP post on base "for a change" but hated it. Occasionally he would go into town with some of the "fellows" to let off steam and see shows like Buffalo Bill's. Most notably he wrote that he met the Queen of England when she visited their Red Cross in his July 24, 1944 letter and attended the wedding of a coworker and a British female Sergeant in the WAAF in September 1944. He also wrote to his wife about the dangerous escape from a plane his brother, Chester, had and begs her not to tell his mother on October 11, 1944. In March of 1945, he wrote to his wife about his worsening hearing problems and wished that it would be enough to send him home.
