V-Mail from Harold G. Blunk to Wife, June 1943-July 1944
- Containers:
- 14.0004 - Box 1, Folder 007
- Scope and content:
This folder contains personal V-mail from Blunk to his wife detailing everyday life, love for his family, and appreciation for the gifts they send him. There are also several letters with pictures of the "Fightin Fifth" bulldog on them and cartoon holiday cards. In his June 21, 1943, letter Blunk mentioned that he sent his European Theater of Operation and Good Conduct ribbons home for safe keeping. There are very few mentions of his work in the strategic office beside his annoyance with the work itself, but he does mention holding down the Adjutant's office while he was out on July 21, 1944. In his Nov 22, 1943, V-mail Blunk wrote that he finally felt a part of the war, and was convinced it was being fought with paper. He also noted his address change to the administrative department on March 1, 1944. Blunk mentioned being promoted to Sergeant while in the hospital for a bad case of laryngitis on April 18, 1944.
