Wigner Correspondence
- Scope and content:
The Wigners and the Diracs carried on a lively correspondence for over forty years, roughly from the 1940's to the 1980's. During these years the world experienced tumultuous events that the Wigners and the Diracs commented on almost as sidelights. The principals in these letters are the following: Ernest Wigner (Jeno, Hungarian for Eugene); Mary Wigner; Martha (their daughter); David (their son); Patricia Eileen Hamilton (Eugene's third wife); Paul Dirac; Margit Dirac (Manci or Manilyn), Gabriel (Margit's son by 1st marriage); Judy (Margit's daughter by 1st marriage); Mary (Paul and Margit's daughter); Monica (Paul and Margit's daughter); Biri (sister of Ernest and Margit) Ernest (Biri's husband). Many letters written to Margit Dirac address her as "Manci," which she was called in the physics community.
