Letters from Agnes to Albert, 1943

Containers:
18.0031 - Box 1, Folder 005
Scope and content:

This folder contains letters written by Agnes Garretson to Albert, primarily concerning local news about friends and relatives, news concerning a friend (Bysshe) and day-to-day occurrences, and her health. She routinely updates Albert on the activities of Ron, her son from her previous marriage. She had initially been sending letters to the wrong APO, resulting in gaps in her and Albert's communication while he is en route to London. She often writes to Albert about financial matters such as the income tax payment and their mortgage. She occasionally writes Albert poetry in French. She also writes about possible names for her and Albert's forthcoming child. In mid-June she is moved to a hospital in Phoenix, New York and gives birth to David Phillips Garretson, called "D.Phil". After this point, most of her letters contain news of D. Phil. She often comments on news pieces in the New Republic and Washington Merry-Go-Round.
