Personal Files, 1863-2014.
- Scope and content:
Series VIII contains materials that document Michael Spencer's collecting interests and his personal achievements as well as materials that are not covered by the other series. His book collection mainly focuses on bromeliads and may be found by searching our online catalog. The book card index on bromeliads explains where in the books one may find references to bromeliads. Spencer's own writings may be found in the Author Files. Spencer also collects historical items and a few of them may be found here. Many photographs taken by Spencer may be found throughout the collection, but his personal albums documenting the Gotha property owned by Henry Nehrling and Julian Nally are held in this series. Some examples of Spencer's botanical art may be found in the folder of sketches. Spencer is an alumnus of both Valencia Community College and the University of Central Florida, and his Distinguished Graduate Award and his graduation tassels document his success.
