Subject Files, 1880-2003.
- Scope and content:
Series II contains notepads, postcards, catalogues, journals drawings, postage stamps, newspapers, decals, letters from various organizations and personnel, dried plants and seeds of bromeliads and photographs of Bromeliad plants. These subject files were collected by Michael Spencer though many of the materials originally belonged to Mulford Foster. Folder titles are self-explanatory and are arranged in alphabetical order. Of particular interest in this series are items of memorabilia from Bromeliad World Conferences, such as spoons, pins and rosettes. Michael Spencer sought to document the importance of bromeliads in society, and he collected information about people and music groups named after bromeliads and information about television shows. In particular, he collected memorabilia and clippings about pineapples.
