Legal Papers, 1872-1947

Scope and content:

Arranged chronologically by record type, legal papers include abstracts, agreements, appointment certificates, deeds, fire insurance policies, mortgages, and resolutions. These materials document Sydney V. Coxetter's Everglades Produce Company activities, his commercial and residential property in Leon County, and Dennis family property in Lloyd and Tallahassee, Florida. There are also fire insurance policies kept by Ida H. Dennis and Winnifred Dennis on property in Lloyd, including the Whitfield House. The series also contains Antonica F. Coxetter's application for widow's pension benefits. She was married to Capt. Louis Mitchell Coxetter, who commanded the Privateer "Jefferson Davis" that ran the blockade out of Charleston, S.C. in 1861
