Business and Personal Documents, 1887-1932
- Scope and content:
Series III holds correspondence and cards received by the Nehrling family concerning plants, Nehrling's articles and personal matters. Most of the letters are written in English but some are in German. Financial papers include notes of payments and amounts owed in addition to materials showing that Nehrling borrowed money. In Memoriam was written by Witmer Stone as a tribute to Nehrling. Notes, labels, news clippings and pamphlets are small amounts of material on a variety of subjects that were kept by the Nehrling family. The stereopticon cards show the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Florence and the Yakushi Temple at Nikko, Japan. Not all the photographs are identified but they include Nehrling, Adolph Lietz and Sarah Payton Weld. Individual items listed below represent the collection but do not include every item.
